Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego – La Jolla

So the problem with tourist towns is that unless you eat in one of the restaurant there are no bathrooms.  What’s a morning Diet Coke-addicted girl to do?   If I was a tourist on the Mall in Washington, DC I’d simply head over to one of the Smithsonian museums to powder my nose.  Lightbulb! French Garden Shoppe, San Diego

It’s in San Diego’s Little Italy, located on India Street and is called French Garden Shoppe — don’t be confused by this international mingle, just say Ciao mon amie and enjoy a mini tour of Europe while shopping for beautiful garden and home decor, gourmet foods, fresh herbs, candles and other lovely gifts.  I discovered this little gem of a store on a recent trip to San Diego, it’s just a few blocks from the Little Italy Mercato.

San Diego’s Little Italy’s Farmer’s Market

The best Saturdays of my summer start with a walk down to the farmer’s market.  I’m in San Diego this weekend but that doesn’t mean I have to give up my Saturday ritual.   Today I visited The Little Italy Mercato.  This farmer’s market has more than 80 stalls filled with the best of southern California produce including artichokes, avocados, oranges and mission figs.  In addition to the local produce there are farm fresh eggs, cheeses, crepes, olive oils, nuts, pastry, pasta and live music.
